The first ever Laser 4.7 African Championship recently took place at Beni Haroune dam in the province of MILA, Algeria. The event took place between 1st and 7th May 2014. A total of 34 sailors competed from Algeria, Angola, Egypt, Morocco, Mozambique, South Africa and Tunisia.
In the men’s
competition Georgou Diuaris from South Africa was crowned the winner
followed by his teammate Dylan Long. In third place, close on the heels
of Dylan, was Algerian sailor Abdelkhalek Boussouar.
The women’s Laser
4.7 African Championship winner was Nouha Akil, aged 15, from Algeria.
In second and third place were South Africa’s Ashleigh Hellstrom and
Megan Robertson.
