Italian firm Ingemar has been contracted to supply pontoons for new marina facilities in Libya and Algeria which will include new superyacht berthing. At Port de Peche de Stora in Algeria, the existing fishing port will be expanded to accommodate a new basin for tourist yachts. It will provide 320 berths up to 30m (98ft).
Ingemar says it has also been asked to supply pontoons for a new marina in the Porto di Andalous development near Tripoli in Libya. Planning is still in progress but it is thought that superyacht berths will be included.Both countries possess considerable tourism growth potential and authorities are starting to recognise the full importance of yacht marinas.Dubai property developer Emaar is overseeing the developments in both countries.
